The Senegales singer was a founding member of Orchestra Baobab, the legendary band that rose to fame in the 1970s. Formed as the resident band of the Baobab Club in Dakar, Orchestra Baobab came to be known for blending Cuban rhythms, soul and jazz with music indigenous to Senegal and Mali in the 1970s.
