Jacobus Hendrik Pierneef was a twentieth century modernist master. With the South African landscape as his primary subject, Pierneef proficiently worked with oil, casein, watercolour, pastel, graphite, etching and linocut alike. The results: breathtakingly vast vistas, lonely farmhouses and familiar panoramas.
