Join Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art for another rendition of Woza at home, a virtual get together hosted by the museum. This time around patrons can expect equal parts of music, food making workshops and fashion talks. 

The event takes place online on 8 August 2020 at 6pm to 9pm.  Ticket prices range from R30 to 120 and can be purchased from Howler. All ticket proceeds go towards after-school workshops, school tours, and transport for museum visits aimed at school children.

Zoom room links will be sent to tickets holders via email at 4pm on Saturday 8 August. Once ticket holders enter the virtual space, they will be allowed to attend activities of their choice.

Activity line up 

Room 1: MOCAA Making

From grub to glam (6 to 6.30 pm): Learn how to turn your homemade meals into gourmet works of art through artistic plating methods 

But is it cake? (6.30 to  7.15 pm): Join sugar cake artist Lynne Glass and learn to make an art-inspired sugary treat.

Art-making: Moving Hearts (7.30 to 9 pm): Zeitz MOCAA Art Educators Liesl, Mandisa and Richard will guide you through simple wrapping and binding techniques?to create a doll inspired by South African artist Senzeni Marasela.

 

ROOM 2:  MOCAA Insights 

Meet the makers (6 to 6.30 pm): Papama Mtwisha who founded the label ‘Africa Your Time Is Now’ will talk about the process of putting her work on a global platform. 

Slow Look: The Fashion Series (6.30 to 8 pm): Zeitz MOCAA’s gallery guides Michael and Siseko discuss what our clothes say about us and our society through multiple artworks exhibited in the museum. 

Authentic South African Fashion In 2020 (8 to 9 pm): Hosted by stylist Gabrielle Kannemyer, this panel discussion with designers Amanda Laird Cherry, Mzukisi Mbane, Onesimo Bam, and multimedia visual artist Trevor Stuurman will unpack the current state of fashion.  

 ROOM 3: MOCAA Vibes 

6 to 7.30 pm: Sit back and join musician Andy Lund for songs of release, relaxation and respite. Lund is a prominent figure on the South African music scene. His album The Year of the Knife is set for release later this year. 

7.30 to 9 pm: Make some room because it's time to dance it out with DJ KONG.
