Located in Braamfontein as a live performance continuation of restaurant Artivist, Untitled Basement has in the last two years worked toward giving performers a home after The Orbit closed in January of 2019.
However the venue has been closed for the better part of 2020 due to state-imposed lockdown regulations. With regulations relaxing, Untitled Basement is slowly reopening its doors for audiences to experience live music performances.
This weekend audiences can expect live offerings from The Kyle Shepherd Trio. The trio comprises pianist Kyle Shepherd, Shane Cooper on double bass and Jonno Sweetman on drums. The trio’s compositions reference free, Cape and hard bop jazz, as well as underground hip hop music.
Considering level one lockdown regulations, the venue has had to halve its audience capacity per performance. In response to less tickets sales resulting in a lowered profit, Untitled Basement is charging audiences per one hour set. All performances will comprise two sets.
All guests are required to complete an online Covid-19 prescreening questionnaire prior to arrival.
The Kyle Shepherd Trio will perform at Untitled Basement on 27 and 28 November 2020. Two performances will take place per evening. For more information visit Untitled Basement’s Instagram or Facebook. Tickets cost R250 per person, per set and can be purchased from Quicket.
