Professor Laurence Wright worked with the late, great poet Chris Mann over many years as colleagues at Rhodes University's Institute for the Study of English in Africa, with Mann as the university's first Professor of Poetry and founder of Wordfest, and Professor Wright as the institute's director.

In this tribute, a friend and colleague remembers the inspirational life of a man dedicated to letters, and love.
