Over the last 20 years, the South African Book Awards have recognised the literary excellence of books written and published in South Africa.

Each year the winners are decided by South African booksellers, based on what did well in their stores. This year the number of booksellers who voted for their favourites exceeded records from previous years.

To celebrate 20 years and to announce this year’s winners, the SA Book Awards held a virtual ceremony on 1 October 2020.
