On Wednesday TMZ reported that the Los Angeles County Coroner has identified a body found on Venice Beach as ex-WWE superstar Shad Gaspard.

Shad Gaspard has gone missing near Venice Beach.

According to CNN, the former WWE star was last seen on 17 May at Marina Del Rey Beach in Venice Beach, California.

The authorities did not name the 39-year-old but confirmed that they were looking for a swimmer that was pulled out to sea by a rip current on Sunday. Further, Pono Barnes, an ocean lifeguard specialist with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said a male in his 30s was "submerged" and a young boy was rescued.

Shad is married to trainer and nutritionist, Siliana Gaspard and the two share a ten-year-old son. Siliana later confirmed that the missing man was, in fact, Shad when she posted a picture of him on her Instagram Stories asking anyone who's seen him to please come forward.

The same post was shared on his Instagram Stories.

According to Forbes, Shad told rescuers to save his son first, but before they could rescue him as well, a bigger wave crashed down on him. Shad has not been seen since, but the search continues.

The star is best known for his work in the wrestling team Cryme Tyme with JTG but has also gone on to star in many films such as Think Like a Man Too and The Last Sharknado: It's About Time.
