Daniel Dae Kim revealed on Thursday that he's tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Hawaii 5-0 star took to Instagram to share the news that he contracted the virus while filming a new TV series in New York. Ironically, he plays a doctor who works to respond to a flu pandemic in New Amsterdam.

In the 10-minute video, he shared that he's been self-quarantining at home in Honolulu, Hawaii since Sunday.

The actor shared his story in the hope of spreading awareness, saying he too was asymptomatic most of the time, but then his throat started feeling scratchy. "I started feeling tightness in my chest, body aches and my temperature started to rise. So, he [his doctor] then told me to get tested."

He went into details about the testing process and how his recovery has been, before urging everyone to stay home and self-isolate.

"For all those out there, especially teenagers and millennials, who think this is not serious, please know that it is.

"You are potentially endangering the lives of millions of people, including your loved ones," he said.
