Mariah Carey is opening up about Ellen DeGeneres making her feel "extremely uncomfortable" when the talk show host revealed her pregnancy to the world in a 2008 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say," she told Vulture in an interview. "And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath."
In the episode Ellen asked Mariah to confirm or deny the tabloid pregnancy rumours. She tried laughing it off to divert attention, but Ellen persisted, offering her a glass of champagne. "You're pregnant!" Ellen screamed when Mariah faked a sip.
"I wasn't ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage. I don't want to throw anyone that's already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn't enjoy that moment."
The We Belong Together singer said she wished she would've been offered "empathy" considering. "But what am I supposed to do? It's like, what are you going to do?"
Mariah's interview comes as The Ellen DeGeneres Show faces backlash, with many employers revealing the show has been a toxic work environment for quite some time, while others have laid sexual misconduct claims against the show's producers.
Three producers have since left the show.
Ellen herself has also faced backlash, with many saying her "be kind to one another" motto is simply a façade.
