Former royal chef Darren McGrady is sharing the queen's bizarre food rules.

In an interview with Insider, the chef, who once worked for Princess Diana as well making pizza for her and Princes William and Harry, said Her Majesty tends to stick to very traditional French cooking. The queen generally avoids takeouts, with the exception of burgers, he said, which the chefs would prepare themselves.

"It always tickled me at Balmoral, we would make our own burgers," he said. "They would shoot deer, and we would do venison burgers. There'd be gorgeous cranberry and everything stuffed into them, but we never set buns out." He said the only thing Her Majesty would pick up and use her fingers for is afternoon tea, adding: "They would have burgers, but not the buns. So they would eat it with their knife and fork."
