Meghan Markle chatted to Alexis Ohanian for a special edition of Time100 Talks on Wednesday, which she hosted with Prince Harry.

During their conversation, the Reddit co-founder spoke candidly about the online space, and said he still receives hate for his decision to step down from the company and request his seat be filled with a black candidate.

"I just can't help but want to create a world that is just fair to my daughter. And I know that that's lofty, but it's a thing worth striving toward. And you know, I'm going to work every day to get a little better," he said adding that the hate he gets online just proves there's "still a lot of work to be done".

"I know we have shared experiences in being in interracial marriages and you know raising small children who are of mixed race and how that plays into that,” Meghan, who has also spoken before about making the world a better place for Archie, said.

"The good outweighs the bad, but my goodness, the bad can be so loud," Meghan said, of the online space and the hate speech it often produces.

The two went on to talk about combatting the negativity online, before sharing more about their personal lives and experiences. Alexis spoke of how marrying tennis pro Serena Williams – a close friend of Meghan Markle's – has changed his outlook on a lot of things.

"I've had so many moments in my life where I was given the benefit of the doubt, where I never felt unsafe, where I always felt heard, where I did not realise until I was in a relationship with someone who has achieved as much as she has and still regularly deals with this in painful, frustrating ways," he said, before reiterating having daughter Alexis Olympia has only accelerated his need to affect change

Meghan agreed, thanking Alexis for the work he's doing – "not just for all of us," she said, "but for your little girl, for our little boy."
