Cape Town – Prince Harry has succeeded Prince Philip as Captain General of the Royal Marines.
The Royal Family announced on Twitter on Tuesday that the Queen approved the appointment of Prince Harry following Prince Philip’s retirement in the position.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s association with the Royal Marines dates back 64 years, when he took the position of Captain General over from Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI.
Prince Harry served in the army for 10 years, undertaking 2 tours to Afghanistan. As Captain General he will continue “to work in support of his fellow servicemen, promoting support for wounded men and women as they adapt to life post-injury.”
