  • Queen Elizabeth will not return to Buckingham Palace this year.
  • Since the coronavirus outbreak, the queen and Prince Philip have been staying at Windsor Castle.
  • Her Royal Highness is currently on her annual summer break at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

The Royal Standard will not be flown during the rest of the year as Queen Elizabeth will reportedly not return to Buckingham Palace.

The queen and Prince Philip have been staying at Windsor Castle from mid-March since the coronavirus outbreak.

According to People, the queen will not return to her London home for the foreseeable future after her annual summer break at Balmoral Castle "as the coronavirus pandemic continues to disrupt working patterns".

This will be the longest she has been away from Buckingham Palace during her reign.

The queen will not return to the palace "until the threat from coronavirus has lifted", Town & Country quoted a report from The Sunday Times.

An insider told the publication: "There is a desire to get Buckingham Palace up and running again as a working palace, but only if all the relevant advice suggests that it is appropriate to do so."
