Cape Town – The British royal family have welcomed a prince.

Kensington Palace announced on Monday morning on Twitter, that the Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington in the early stages of labour.

Royal fans and news sites alike have flocked to the steps of the Lindo Wing, patiently awaiting any movement or announcement of the baby’s arrival.

It was announced, around lunch time, that Kate gave birth to a baby boy at 11:01.

A few hours later, Prince William left the hospital to fetch Prince George and Princess Charlotte to meet their little brother.

Shortly after their visit, Kate and William were photographed with their newborn baby on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital.

The royals are going home.

Thanks to royal tradition, the wait for the royal baby's monikor may last a couple of days.
