3 local films make the Golden Globes Foreign Language Film submission list

The Hollywood Foreign Press has announced its submissions for the Golden Globes Foreign Language Film category.

This year 138 films from 77 countries were eligible for Golden Globe consideration. Two South African films made the list, Moffie, Toorbos and Lesotho's This Is Not A Burial, It's A Resurrection.

Moffie directed by Oliver Hermanus which follows a young conscript during his military service, received worldwide critical acclaim. About the film making the list of submissions, Oliver tweeted: "Well done team!"

Toorbos directed by Rene van Rooyen is based on the novel by Dalene Matthee. It is also South Africa's official entry for the 93rd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

This Is Not A Burial, It's A Resurrection directed by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese is veteran actor Mary Twala's swansong. It has also been submitted as Lesotho's first-ever Oscar submission.

Nominations will be announced on 3 February with the ceremony hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, set to take place on 28 February.
