While Emma Corrin is making waves for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown season 4, another actor is getting ready for her turn to play the People's Princess.

Kristen Stewart will play the royal in the upcoming movie Spencer directed by Pablo Larraín. The film will be set in the early 1990s and centre on three days during the Christmas holidays when Diana decides to end her marriage with Prince Charles.

During an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the 30-year-old opened up about playing the late princess.

About Diana, she said: "I was young [and] didn't really know what was going on. But now, it's hard not to feel protective over her. I mean, she was, like, so young."

She added: "My movie takes place over, like, three days, and it's this, like, really poetic internal imagining of what that might have felt like rather than, giving, like, new information. So, we kind of don't have a mark to hit. We just also love her."
