Lena Waithe voices Disney's first-ever animated LGBTQ character in 'Onward'

Lena Waithe is voicing Disney's first-ever animated LGBTQ character.

The Emmy Award-winning star, will lend her voice to Officer Specter, a cyclops police officer, reports E! News.

According to Slate, in the movie Officer Specter pulls over a driver who says he was distracted because his girlfriend's sons were acting up. She responds, "My girlfriend's daughter got me pulling my hair out."

The animation, which also stars Tom Holland and Chriss Pratt as the lead characters while featuring the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Octavia Spencer and Ali Wong, follows the story of two teenage elf brothers who embark on a journey to bring their dad back to life and discover if there's still magic left in the world.

The animated movie will be released in SA cinemas on 6 March.
