The ride is coming to an end for the Fast and the Furious

Back in 2015, Vin Diesel announced that the franchise would end after one final trilogy. At the time, Fast and the Furious 8 was in production.

And now Deadline reports that Universal Pictures will wrap up the saga with two final movies. Justin Lin, who helms F9 is in talks to direct both movies.

The publication further reports that they will most likely tell a story over two films that will focus on Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and bring back the rest of the cast Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang.

The ninth instalment has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and is scheduled for release in May 2021. Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren will reprise their roles with John Cena joining the cast as Dominic's long-lost brother.
