James Gunn has revealed the first footage of the resurrected Suicide Squad franchise at DC's virtual Fandom event on Sunday.
An action-packed one-minute clip showed behind-the-scenes interviews with the cast and footage from the upcoming film.
"This is a gritty 1970s war movie combined with the brilliance of James Gunn's characters and comedy", said producer Peter Safran.
The 54-year-old writer/director said that this is the by far the biggest movie he has made.
"This has been truly, the greatest most exciting, journey of my life making this film."

The 2016 movie directed by David Ayer bombed at the box office with critics calling it "ugly and boring", "a puzzling confused undertaking" and "the worst of the worst."
Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney will reprise their roles.
New cast members include David Dastmalchian, Steve Agee, Daniela Melchior, Idris Elba, Mayling Ng, John Cena, Flula Borg, Nathan Fillion, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, Sean Gunn, Alice Braga, Michael Rooker, Taika Waititi, and Jennifer Holland.
