Megan Fox takes on kidnappers and comes face-to-face with a lion in the action-packed trailer for Rogue.

The thriller directed by MJ Bassett follows the story of an extraction mission that opens up a Pandora's Box of global politics and the underbelly of the illegal animal trade.

The Transformers actor plays a mercenary named Samantha O'Hara who teams up with an ex-royal marine Mike Barasa (Greg Kriek) to rescue the daughter of a governor of an African country.

When they go to rescue her, they discover more than one girl, which leads to the extraction going awry. They go on the run from the bad guys and find solace at an abandoned farm but soon realise that it is used by poachers to breed lions.

MJ who co-wrote the script with her daughter and cast member Isabel told Entertainment Weekly that the film was "supposed to be a really small picture".

"The script turned out better than anybody expected and my financiers were like: 'We should try to go out to somebody, this is a great part for a woman.' Megan was on the list."

Other cast members include Philip Winchester, Jessica Sutton, Calli Taylor, Brandon Auret, Adam Deacon and Sisanda Henna.

A South African released date will be announced shortly.
