Cape Town – There are two types of people in this world: those who get that some graffiti is art and some who believe its all vandalism.
Me, I think rewarding an artist who took the time out to express what they felt on a wall that was bland and in need of TLC from the start is a worthwhile effort.
Which brings us to Cape Town’s often beleaguered suburb on the outskirts of the CBD, Woodstock. It’s most famous for a series of bad things from the death of a famous drug dealer on Gympie street to other violent crimes. But a set of artists are trying to change this, by taking old spaces and breathing new life into them.
Enter street art: I took my favourite ones from around Woodstock and the CBD of Cape Town because I wanted to show everyone how well it can be done in this gallery.
I was lucky enough to stumble upon the studio of Leigh Soulink (seen below next to his art) while I was getting the shots for this piece.
