I was first introduced to Toya Delazy (real name Latoya Buthelezi) in 2012 when her track Pump It On hit the airwaves. The upbeat song was catchy, and even as I prep for my interview with the singer, I find myself randomly humming it.

It does not take much digging to discover that Toya is known for more than just her music, though. She's also the granddaughter of South African politician Mangosuthu Buthelezi and has royal blood running through her veins. Toya's great-great-grandfather was Zulu king, Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo, making her a princess.
