The news of the artist's death was confirmed via a police official and federal law enforcement.

Police held a press conference about the home invasion but did not release the rapper's name at that time.

During the press conference, it emerged that police were called to the home, and once they were inside, they found a man who had been shot. He was then transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, where he was pronounced dead hours later.

It is unclear at this point who owns the house where Pop Smoke was shot.

No arrests have been made at this time.
