Jim Carrey has been cast to play former former U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in the upcoming season of Saturday Night Live.
According to Variety, the role was previously played by Jason Sudeikis in previous seasons and Woody Harrelson during the Democratic primary debates.
On casting the Bruce Almighty actor in the role producer, Lorne Michaels told Vulture: "There was some interest on his part. And then we responded, obviously, positively. But it came down to discussions about what the take was.
"He and Colin Jost had a bunch of talks. He and I as well. He will give the part energy and strength, and… hopefully, it's funny."
The 46th season of the variety show will premiere on 3 October with a limited in-studio audience at the Rockefeller Centre reports CNN. It will be the first time the show will air from the studio since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
