Our film and TV critics spend hours reviewing TV shows and movies. Sometimes it's a joy because the movie or series is so good, other times not so good but they sit through it all to give an honest review. Meet the team who brings you the daily reviews.

Caryn Welby-Solomon is from Cape Town and studied English, Film and Media at the University of Cape Town. She has been working in the media industry for the past seven years. She enjoys reviewing content that highlight underrepresented voices in the media, such as women and people of colour. Her greatest achievement is Taika Waititi liking one of her thirst tweets.

Zayaan Schroeder is from Cape Town and studied Film and Media at the University of Cape Town. She is too invested in fantasy TV and movies and covers anything to do with magic, superheroes and the supernatural. When she's not watching TV, you'll find her hiding from her children with her nose in a book.

Born, raised and still living in Joburg, Ilan Preskovsky spent much of his twenties trying to figure out what to do with his life while completing a BSc in psychology and information systems and taking some odd jobs along the way. A couple of years before the big three-oh, however, Ilan finally found his true calling in journalism as a freelance features writer and entertainment critic. He has been writing film (and more recently television) reviews for Channel24 for a decade. He is also an avid comic book fan and music lover, with interests in everything from psychology to American politics to Jewish philosophy. Ilan still finds writing about himself in the third person extremely odd.

Namibian in origin, Gabi Zietsman grew up in the shadow of the Stellenbosch mountains before heading off to the Eastern Cape to study towards a Bachelor of Journalism at Rhodes University. She's been working in Cape Town's media industry and writing movie reviews since 2013, with a passion for cinema and the beautiful, sad, hilarious and heart-warming stories told through the power of a camera lens. Outside the world of cinema, she has a healthy number of tattoos with plans to get more, a romantic obsession with the ocean and a terrible case of wanderlust.

The writing bug bit Leandra Engelbrecht after she wrote a creative piece in Grade 7, in which she spent a day as an ant. She was born and bred in Cape Town and has an Honours degree in English from the University of the Western Cape and a BTech in Journalism from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Leandra covers everything film and TV-related. The most common question she is asked is if she really watches that much TV – and the answer is, yes. Her mission is to convert as many people as possible to the world of K-Dramas, one review at a time.
