If there is anyone who will know the inner workings of the US government, it would be the Obamas.

The couple's production company Higher Ground will produce a new comedy sketch show which will take a behind-the-scenes look at how the government works.

The show titled The G Word with Adam Conover is loosely based on the bestseller The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis, which focuses on the transition from the Obama to Trump administration.

According to Deadline, the show hosted by comedian Adam Conover will be a mix of comedy and documentary and "will go inside the machine of government and introduce viewers to the civil servants who make it work".

The 37-year-old also shared the news on Twitter. He wrote: "Very happy to finally be able to share this news: I'm creating a new comedy series for Netflix about the federal government. It's called The G Word, and I can't wait to share it with you."

While some news headlines have touted the show as an Obama supported Trump satire, a Netflix source has dismissed it and told People: "It's more of a focus on going inside how the government actually works, not specific to any one administration."

Production of the show will begin in early 2021.
