  • Paddy Considine has been cast in the Game of Thrones spin-off.
  • The Peaky Blinders actor will play King Viserys Targaryen.
  • HBO has ordered ten episodes for the upcoming series.

The Game of Thrones spin-off has found its king.

Variety reports that Peaky Blinders actor Paddy Considine has been cast as King Viserys I in the prequel series, House of Dragons.

According to a character description: "King Viserys Targaryen is chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. A warm, kind, and decent man, Viserys only wishes to carry forward his grandfather's legacy. But good men do not necessarily make for great kings", reports Entertainment Weekly.

The new series is based on the Game of Thrones companion book, Fire & Blood, that is set 300 years before the events seen in the hit TV drama series.

It will tell the stories of previous Targaryen kings like Aegon the Conqueror, the first ruler of Westeros, and Aegon the Dragonbane, all of whom are ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

HBO has ordered ten episodes for the upcoming series.

Initially, five Game of Thrones projects were in the works one of them starring Naomi Watts, which was canned due to post-production issues.
