South African born actor Phumzile Sitole is set to make her first appearance in Star Trek: Discovery season 3.

The series follows the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery as they travel to the future, over 900 years after the events of the original series.

In the new season, which premieres new episodes weekly on Netflix, Phumzile plays Captain Ndoye. The Trek Central Twitter account shared stills of Phumzile in character alongside Blu Dell Barrio who plays Adira. The pair will make their first appearance in episode three which will be available on the streaming service Friday, 30 October.

Phumzile shared the tweet writing: "I guess it's official. My favourite thing to shoot and family to be part of. Episode comes out this Thursday in the U.S.A. on @cbsallaccess and this FRIDAY IN SA on @NetflixSA."

The 30-year-old has appeared in several American series including Orange is the New Black, The Good Fight and Elementary.

According to the official synopsis, season 3 finds the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery landing in an unknown future far from the home they once knew. Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the U.S.S. Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must work together to restore hope to the Federation.
