A new study by SlotsUp set out to find which dating show from around the world is the most successful.
Researchers combed each show's Wikipedia pages to find out how many couples it had produced and how many are still together as of March 2021. They also checked it with the contestants' Instagram accounts and the most recent articles on their relationship status.
Here are the top 5 most successful dating shows:
1. 90 Day Fiancé
The TLC shows has a 75% success rating with 28 of the couples still together out of the 37 paired throughout its seven seasons.
Although the Netflix show has only had one season to date, it has a 50% success rate, with 3 out of the six couples matched still together.
3. Married at First Sight US
Coming in at number three is Married at First Sight US with a 30% success rating. The South African version of the show was not very successful. Of the two seasons that aired, none of the couples stayed together.
4. The Bachelorette US
One of the longest-running dating reality shows alongside brother show The Bachelor. It has a success rating of 29%; five of the 17 couples are still together. South Africa's first-ever Bachelorette, Qiniso Van Damme, is currently on her journey to finding love.
5. Love Island UK
The British dating reality show is one of the most popular dating shows around. There are 15 other versions, including a South African one which is currently airing on M-Net (DStv 101). The show has a 23% success rate; 10 of the 43 couples are still together. The most recent season - 6 - was the most successful, with 5 of the eight couples still together.
