In another shock exit on The Bachelorette SA, Dylan Heneck decided that his time on the reality dating competition had ended.

The Capetonian became a fan favourite with his naughty streak and brought a light-heartedness to the show. He wasn't afraid to bare it all at a painting group date, and on his one-on-one date with Qiniso Van Damme, you could feel the chemistry sizzle through the screen.

In the latest episode, Dylan had doubts, however. At the group date, he opened up to Qiniso about how he was feeling. He was cut up that his friend Kganya had left, and he was unsure about himself and Qiniso. The model asked him to take some time to think about things. At the cocktail party, Dylan told her that he hadn't changed his mind and that he had to be honest with her and himself and decided to leave.

In this Q&A, we find out more about Dylan's decision to leave, who he thinks will make the top two and whether he is still looking for love.

First off, did you expect to become such a fan-favourite on the show?

No, but I also didn't carry around grape platters with me, so I knew I wouldn't be a villain either.

At what point did you realise that this experience was not for you anymore? Was it a particular incident, or was it a build-up of things?

For me, it was our one-on-one date. I struggled to get lost in the moments we shared in front of the camera. It felt unnatural to me.

SOME ALONE TIME: Dylan and Qiniso on their one-on-one date.

Your exiting the show was very close after Keelan left. Did Keelan's decision to leave somehow prompt you to rethink your time on the show?

Keelan's exit made me consider how my leaving could hurt Qiniso. I felt Keelan's honesty was brave and learnt from it. My priority from there on was to be gentle with it and thoughtful of her process.

You and Qiniso seemed to have a cool connection early on. When did you start feeling that an element was missing?

We still have a cool connection. My leaving wasn't a matter of something missing, but instead, there not being the right space to develop.

You mentioned to Qiniso that you were pretty cut up after Kganya, your best friend in the house, left. Can you tell us a bit more about the bond you two formed? Was it his support that you were missing?

My boy, Kganya! It was tough to watch him go because you don't want someone you're close with to be hurt. By that stage, we had been filming for quite a while, and naturally, people started to fray at the edges. That whole episode was pretty frustrating for everyone, I felt. If you rewatch it closely, you can see Qiniso is taking on a lot of stress compared to the other episodes.

A GIFT: Qiniso gives Dylan the pot they made on their date.

In episode 6, after a conversation with Qiniso, you said, 'To be honest, it's very hard to say whether she is genuine or acting.' Can you elaborate more about what brought about those feelings?

She's an actress by trade. She's talented too. Unbelievably well put together in front of us mere mortals. The fact is that we were/are on a TV show, and theoretically, that makes the whole situation quite confusing. My statement wasn't accusing her of acting, I said, and stick by it, that I was having a hard time telling what the truth was.

With the men that are left, who do you think will make the top two?

Hard to say, but Vuyani and Justin were always my front runners from the day we stepped foot in the mansion.

LONG GOODBYE: Dylan tells Qiniso he has decided to leave.

Now that you're gone, the fun element is going to be missing from the house. Is there anyone who you think will take over from you?

No, I think it'll be a very dark place from here on out.

Are you still looking for love?

I'm not. I'm already surrounded by people who love me. My focus is being there for them and on my work. I finally realised what it means to love others by loving yourself first, and that's a path I'm excited to be on.
