Johannesburg – Yes, it’s been confirmed, Bonang Matheba will be starring in her own reality show! There’s no doubt that fans all over the country will be glued to their TV screens in July when the show, Being Bonang, is set to air.

Say what you want, but Mzansi stars definitely know how to bring the heat when it comes to reality TV. So in honour of queen B* joining the party, we’ve decided to take a look at 7 of South Africa’s most memorable reality shows.

Get ready for some major flashbacks!

1. Fly Chix

Who could forget the Fly Chix? They were like our very own Fifth Harmony. And, more importantly, they gave us Denise Zimba. Although the show didn’t last very long, there was never a dull moment when these ladies were on air.

Let’s take a minute to reminisce by watching their video, Fists of Fire

2. Papa Penny Penny Ahee

Fans just can't seem to get enough of this reality star. Chatting to The Juice Penny Penny says he never expected the show to be as popular as it is.

The show hit our TV screens in January and since then fans have been sure not to miss a moment.

Yes, we were definitely kept on the edge of seats with former Big Brother Mzansi stars, Mandla and Lexi.

4. Living The Dream With Somizi

We love us some Somizi! So when we got the news that the choreographer was set to star in his own reality show we were over the moon. And he did not disappoint.

Besides giving us a glimpse into his fabulous life, Somizi finally let us in on the reason his friendship with Bonang went south. But the good news is that season two of the hit show is on its way.

5. Dineo’s Diary

Is it safe to call Dineo Ranaka the queen of local reality TV?

The star’s show, Dineo’s Diary, is one of the most successful in the local reality scene. But it’s not only Dineo that kept us watching. Her entire family became popular with viewers. So much so that the spin-off, The Ranakas was born.

6. Rolling with…

Thanks to e.tv we’ve rolled with the likes of Kelly Khumalo, Zola 7, and Winnie Khumalo. This reality series gave us the opportunity to get a first-hand glimpse into the lives of some of SA’s favourite celebs.

7. So What: Big money, big dreams

Remember this? Yes, once upon a time, the Sushi King was a reality star. There was the A-list events, the girls, the cars and the money. And, of course, the very entertaining Kenny Kunene himself.

But the star has moved on from that, and in case you have not heard, he is now a married man.
