Demi-Leigh Tebow was crowned Miss Universe 2017 in Las Vegas exactly three years ago - here's a look back at the crowning moment.
On 26 November 2017, Demi-Leigh set the wheels in motion for the country's first-ever "sandwich win" at an international pageant - and nope, it has nothing to do with a ham and cheese sammie.
The term is used to describe a victory when a country secures a win on alternate years. When a country wins the pageant in the first year, does not win the next year, but is crowned again in the third year, it's referred to as a sandwich win.
Demi-Leigh brought home the Miss Universe crown in 2017, 39 years after Margaret Gardiner was the first South African to win the title.
In 2018, Tamaryn Green from Paarl narrowly missed out, placing second. But 2019 marked the fourth sandwich win when Zozibini Tunzi reigned supreme.
