"Life happens and despite it sometimes being unfortunate, it's one's attitude that determines the outcome. We decided on a positive outcome," said the statement.
According to the statement, the couple had been "separated for over a year," and after "months of counselling" realised that it was time to "let go".
About the reason for the divorce, the couple said there is "no story" and "no scandal" but that they "simply started growing apart."
The divorce was finalised on Friday, and the couple referred to their 13-year marriage as "an incredible chapter".
