Nomzamo Mbatha and Thuso Mbedu make Essence 'Young Black Hollywood stars to watch' list

Thuso Mbedu and Nomzamo Mbatha have made Essence Magazine's global top "20 Black Hollywood stars to watch out in 2021" list. 

From Quinta Brunson to Chloe x Halle and Lovie Simone, the South African actresses are in good company. (See the full list here)

The list comprises of young Black Hollywood movers and shakers who "stand up, speak up, and make a difference on- and off-screen." "This rising class of leading young men and women are the change many fought to make a way for and they are loud and proud," says the article.

Listing Nomzamo's long list of accomplishments, including her work on Isibaya and her role as an UNHCR Ambassador, Essence says: "It is that level of care and commitment that has made her a sought after star." 

"The work is the work is the work. Thank you for shining a light our way @essence, [sic]" Nomzamo wrote on Instagram, sharing the mention with her 3.5 million Instagram followers.

About Thuso, Essence says: "The sky's the limit for the early-20-year-old and Mbedu's reaching for higher heights," adding: "There's no doubt that this young phenom will be a force to headline marquee posters in the near future."
