  • Mzwandile Nzimande, popularly known as DJ 1D died on Wednesday after testing positive for Covid-19. 
  • "He was known to all as a true friend and brother," said a statement released by the family.
  • He leaves behind his wife Hlapo, three daughters Senzi, Zandi and Zwelethu, and two brothers Bheki and Ayanda. 

Mzwandile Nzimande, popularly known as DJ 1D died on Wednesday.

The Nzimande family in a statement said: "He sadly passed away on Wednesday, the 13th January 2020 at 9:00 at the Olivedale Clinic in Johannesburg after being diagnosed positive with Covid-19." 

The Kaya FM resident DJ was the co-founder of popular streetwear and lifestyle brand Loxion Kulca.

He leaves behind his wife Hlapo, three daughters Senzi, Zandi and Zwelethu, and two brothers Bheki and Ayanda. 

A virtual funeral service will stream online on Monday at 9:00. Watch the broadcast here

The funeral service will follow all Covid-19 protocols under the South African law, and will only be open to immediate family members and close friends.
