Johannesburg- Rhythm City actress Samkelo Ndlovu has come out strongly against hate over her raunchy underwater video, which caused quite a stir on social media.
Within minutes after the video hit social media, Samkelo's Instagram account was filled with hundreds of comments from followers.
While some applauded Samkelo for living her life the way she wants, others trolled her for being an "attention seeker."
This did not sit well with the actress, who released a social media statement in response to the hate. Both the video and the statement have since been deleted.
"Me reading 4% of the comments from my raunchy underwater video. It's 2016 and people still think we care. They say I'm doing it to gain popularity. What a funny thing. Your favourite IT girl hasn't had as much screen time as i have. Across the continent. Between 4-7 million viewers daily for the past 8 years. Never a day without being on that screen. How much more popular can one human get or want to be. Chauvinists who objectify women when it suits them then call women out when we embrace our own bodies can join that other lady with validation issues who called you a monkey in hell. hahahaha "popular" imagine!!! Stay close to the screen so you can kiss me," Samkelo initially wrote on Instagram.
