Johannesburg - On Sunday night South Africans reeled in shock with the news that President Jacob Zuma would be replacing the newly elected Finance minister, David van Rooyen.
It came just days after Zuma said that the previous minister, Nhlanhla Nene would be replaced by van Rooyen. The move saw our economy take a massive fall with pundits predicting that we could soon enter junk status.
Then, last night in another shock move, the presidency announced that he had 'listened to the people' and would be replacing van Rooyen with Pravin Gordhan.
Trevor Noah, who landed the gig as host of The Daily Show this year, also had his say on the issue. Tweeting to his more than 2.87 million followers, Trevor seemed to applaud Zuma's decision.
After than, he had a bit of fun even setting up a poll. The poll has already seen over 6 000 votes cast.
I'd rather have a president that changes his mind than a president that sticks with the wrong decision.— Trevor Noah (@Trevornoah) December 13, 2015
