Georgia —Aaron Carter has made a statement following his arrest on Saturday.

Habersham County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Capt. Floyd Canup confirmed Aaron Carter and his girlfriend Madison Parker were arrested on DUI and drug charges in Georgia.

Carter was released on bail on Sunday.

Following his release the American singer released a statement pertaining to the arrest.

The statement claims that the singer was "aggressively" arrested by police officers after requesting help to fix a tire at an Auto Zone. It added that Carter has a medical license for medical marijuana to help deal with his anxiety.

The statement also targets Carter's older brother and former Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter - who reach out to his brother following news of the arrest.

"If my own Blood (Nick) truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn't he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum? That's not cool at all to use me for his PR and kick me while I am down. I love my family despite it through thick and thin," the statement said.

Carter is accused of drunken driving and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana and paraphernalia. Parker was arrested for obstruction, possession of less than 1 ounce of pot and paraphernalia.

According to police officials Carter's vehicle was stopped on a highway in Cornelia, which is about 80 miles (130 km) northeast of Atlanta.
