According to Laundrie family attorney, Steven Bertolino, Brian Laundrie's cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

This comes after the initial results of Laundrie's autopsy had been inconclusive.

"Chris and Roberta Laundrie have been informed the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was suicide. Chris and Roberta are still mourning the loss of their son and are hopeful that these findings bring closure to both families," said the full statement.

In October, Laundrie's remains were found in a Florida nature reserve after he vanished, following his fiancée, Gabby Petito's mysterious disappearance

23-year-old Laundry was named a "person of interest" in the killing of Petito, 22, who was found dead in September after the couple went on a road trip across the United States.

According to a coroner's report, Petito was strangled to death.
