  • Britney Spears says she's "doing that whole work on yourself thing" following her legal battle over her conservatorship.
  • The court denied the pop star's request last week to remove her father, Jamie Spears as conservator.
  • Now, the singer has jetted off to Hawaii for "an early birthday celebration".

Britney Spears is taking a much-needed vacation with boyfriend Sam Asghari following her legal battle over her conservatorship.

In case you missed it, it’s been 12 years since the singer entered her conservatorship – a legal term in the US preventing someone full control of their finances, as a result of their physical and mental state. Jamie Spears has had legal guardianship over Britney and her career since her public meltdown in the early 2000s.

Britney has pleaded with the court to remove her father, saying she is "afraid" of him and he doesn’t take her decisions into consideration. She said she would not perform as long as he remains in control of her career.

Last week a judge ruled he is to remain co-conservator along with financial company Bessemer Trust.

It seems the Toxic singer is over all that toxic energy though, taking to social media on Monday to reveal she "felt like a little trip to paradise for an early birthday celebration" with Sam Asghari.

With another post, she wrote: "I’m doing that whole work on yourself thing at the moment."

The pop star later shared that she jetted off to Hawaii to get away from it all, sharing a selfie with Sam in Maui.
