  • Charlize Theron just shared a photo of her primary school days.
  • "I was SUPPOSED TO be financially dependent. I CHOSE TO be financially independent," she captioned the photo for International Day of the Girl Child.
  • The actor revealed to a fan who asked: "Watter laerskool se klere dra jy?" that she attended Laerskool Putfontein in Benoni.

Charlize Theron just shared the sweetest throwback photo from her school-going days – and an inspiring message along with it.

"Today is the #DayoftheGirl," she wrote on Instagram on Sunday. "Tag just one friend to share their SUPPOSED TO / CHOSE TO story. Because when a girl finds her power to make different choices that change her life, it inspires others to do so too. That's #TheGirlEffect.

"I was SUPPOSED TO be financially dependent. I CHOSE TO be financially independent," she wrote on the first picture of herself as a child and the second of her standing on a balcony overlooking the city and taking the world by storm on the cover of Vogue.

In the comments section, a fan asked: "Watter laerskool se klere dra jy?" to which the Academy Award-winning actor responded: "Laerskool Putfontein!"

Laerskool Putfontein is a primary school situated in Benoni, Gauteng, close to the farm where the star grew up.

The star went to boarding school in Johannesburg after that, studying at the National School of the Arts, then landing a year-long modelling contract that saw her move to Milan, Italy, when she was 16, before she set her sights on the US.
