Former WWE superstar Gabbi Tuft has come out as transgender.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: "This is me. Unashamed, unabashedly me. This is the side of me that has hidden in the shadows, afraid and fearful of what the world would think; afraid of what my family, friends, and followers would say or do."

Alongside a photo of herself, she continued: "I am no longer afraid and I am no longer fearful. I can now say with confidence, that I love myself for WHO I am."

After six years with the WWE, Gabbi retired from wrestling in 2014.

In her post, she also thanked those who stood by and supported her, including wife Priscilla, who she married in 2002.

In an interview with Extra, Gabbi and Priscilla have since opened up about their relationship.

"It's been a very interesting progression," Gabbi shared. "Our intimate life has changed quite a bit. We're not active in that way right now, but what we've discovered is a whole different part of our relationship."
