  • Nick and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are parents!
  • The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, via surrogate.
  • Sources say the couple had long spoke about expanding their family, even renovating their California mansion accordingly for their baby girl.

Nick and Priyanka Chopra Jonas announced on Friday that they'd welcomed a baby via surrogate.

The couple shared a joint statement on social media, shortly after the new mom spoke to Vanity Fair, joking she and Nick hadn't been "too busy to practice" expanding their family.

This isn't the first hint The Matrix Resurrections star has dropped about welcoming their bundle of joy, though.

Not too long ago, in Netflix's Jonas Brothers Family Roast, she said: "We are the only couple who doesn't have kids yet. Which is why I'm excited to make this announcement... Sorry babe...

"Nick and I are expecting... To get drunk tonight and sleep in tomorrow," she remarked, but even Nick looked a little perplexed in that moment, wondering if his wife had just spilt the beans.

Nick and Priyanka, who tied the knot in December 2018, had long had the future of their family on their minds, though.

A source tells People of their California mansion, which they purchased in 2019: "When they bought the house together, they had children in mind. They were hoping to have kids and needed a place with a lot of outdoor space and greenery."

The insider adds the property – which they bought for $20 million, breaking records for being the most expensive home ever sold in Encino – was further renovated by the couple after they moved in.

"They wanted to make it more family-friendly," they said.
