Cape Town – Justin Bieber revealed on Thursday that he has Lyme disease.

In an emotional confession on Instagram, the Yummy singer posted the exclusive shared with TMZ. "While a lot of people kept saying Justin Bieber looks like shit, on meth etc. they failed to realise I've been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my skin, brain function, energy, and overall health," he wrote in the comments.

According to Health24, Lyme disease is "an acute recurrent inflammatory infection transmitted by a tick-borne spirochete, Borrelia burgdorfi". Symptoms include fever, chills, headache followed by pain in the knees and other joints. Symptoms appear in recurrent episodes, lasting about a week, at intervals of one to several weeks declining over two to three years.

Justin added that he would further explain everything in a docuseries on YouTube. BUT MORE ABOUT THAT HERE: Justin Bieber is returning to his YouTube roots with new docu-series

"It's been a rough couple years but getting the right treatment that will help treat this so far incurable disease and I will be back and better than ever NO CAP," the 25-year-old said.

Many applauded the hitmaker for being so vulnerable and sharing his story. Chance The Rapper, 2 Chainz and Patrick Schwarzenegger all commented on Justin's post. But wife Hailey revealed it was close friends GiGi, Bella, Yolanda Hadid, who all have the disease, that really helped Justin through.

The model also defended her husband and said on Twitter, "For those who are trying to downplay the severity of Lyme disease. Please do your research and listen to the stories of people who have suffered with it for years. Making fun of and belittling a disease you don't understand is never the way, all it takes is educating yourself."
