Jonathan Cheban robbed at gunpoint

  • Jonathan Cheban was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday.
  • Two men made away with his $250 000 (R4.3 million) Richard Mille watch.
  • Officers said the suspects, who fled on foot, have not yet been found.
  • Jonathan has since released a statement thanking fans for their support.

Jonathan Cheban aka 'Foodgod' aka Kim Kardashian's best friend, is thanking fans for the outpouring of support following his robbery at gunpoint over the weekend.

The former publicist was with his mom and a friend in New Jersey when the incident happened. According to TMZ, he was standing outside his friend's house on Sunday evening when a man came up to him and asked for the time before pulling a gun on him.

The gunman, who was assisted by another perpetrator, forced Jonathan and the others between two cars to trap them before pointing a gun at his mother's head. The neighbours heard the commotion and came out, scaring the gunmen away. But they managed to make away with the TV personality's Richard Mille watch, costing around $250 000 (R4.3 million).

People later reported the suspects have not yet been found, but Jonathan has assisted cops with a sketch.

"Responding officers tracked the suspects with a K9 unit; however the search yielded negative results for the suspects, weapons, or proceeds from the robbery," the Englewood Cliffs Police Department said in a press release.

The news comes four years after Kim Kardashian was also robbed at gunpoint in Paris.

Jonathan released a statement on Monday saying everyone is doing "fine".

"Thank you everyone for your overwhelming concern for myself and family over the life changing incident on Sunday night," he said. "It was a horrific experience, but thankfully we are fine.

"I left Manhattan for the suburbs and the crime is following. Lock your doors and watch your back! Keep your family safe!"
