  • Lana Del Rey attended a meet and greet over the weekend but it seems she didn't take the proper precautions to protect fans.
  • The singer showed up at the event with an ineffective shield: a mesh mask.
  • Fans took to Instagram to call the singer out. "You make good music but poor decisions," one user commented.

Lana Del Rey recently attended a meet and greet, but upset fans when she didn't take the proper precautions amid the pandemic, showing up with a mesh face mask.

Though wearing a mask prevents the spread of the virus through droplets from coughs, sneezes, and even speaking, a mask with holes in it isn't an effective shield. So when the Summertime Sadness singer made a surprise appearance at Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles on Saturday to promote her new poetry book, fans were not impressed.

Commenting on a series of photos she shared on Instagram, they called her out for not wearing a proper mask.

"Girl that's not a mask," one fan wrote. "You make good music but poor decisions."

Following the backlash, Lana took to Instagram on Sunday wearing what appeared to be a proper mask as she read one of her poems from Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass.

Though some fans pointed out that she was wearing it while alone in the car and called it a publicity stunt, others praised the singer.

"Awww you saw your mistake and made a change. That mask looks cute as fuck," one fan wrote, while another said: "Maybe we can stan again."
