- Miley Cyrus says she's gone through a lot of "trauma and loss" over the past few years.
- The singer opened up in a recent interview, talking about her house burning down, losing her grandmother and her split from Liam Hemsworth.
- "I didn't spend too much time crying over it," the 27-year-old said, adding women often come across as "cold" when they move on from something or someone.
Miley Cyrus is getting candid about the challenging few years she's had.
Following her split from Liam Hemsworth in 2019, the Midnight Sky singer says, though she doesn't show it, she's been through a lot of "trauma".
She told the Scandanavian talk show Skavlan this week: "I've gone through a lot of kind of trauma and loss in the last couple years. I had a house fire in Malibu, where I lost my house," she says, referencing the 2018 incident before adding, "and went through a divorce recently.
"My grandma who I was super close with, I lost."
She added: "In a way, I didn't spend too much time crying over it, and it wasn't because I was cold or trying to avoid feeling something, but it was just because it wasn't going to change it. I tried to just continue to be active in what I can control, otherwise you just start feeling like you're trapped."
The singer also recently split from boyfriend Cody Simpson, and in the past few months has remained sober.
She further explained: "I would say that there's a stigma of coldness for a woman who actually, really moves on."
She added that she thinks her exes thought perhaps she'd become less emotional over time, but Miley continued: "I heal through travelling and meeting new people. As you lose one person, another person comes into your life."
She said committing to the idea of "forever" only ends in "disappointment".
