Pharrell Williams has taken to Instagram to mourn the death of his cousin, Donovan Lynch, who was shot by a police officer during the three shootings that broke out in the Virginia Beach Resort Area on Friday.

According to a police statement, several people were shot following the breakout of a fight and three men allegedly involved in the first shooting, Ahmon Jahree Adams, Nyquez Tyyon Baker and Devon Maurice Dorsey Jr, were arrested and charged with seven counts of felonious assault, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and reckless handling of a firearm. On Monday, Virginia Beach PD released a second statement that claimed Lynch was "brandishing a handgun at the time of the shooting", but details on what led to the shooting were not released.

"As much as we would like to be transparent... I do not have the answers the community is looking for right now," he said, according to People.

"The loss of these lives is a tragedy beyond measure," Pharrell wrote on Instagram on Monday. "My cousin Donovon was killed during the shootings. He was a bright light and someone who always showed up for others.

"It is critical my family and the other victims' families get the transparency, honesty and justice they deserve. Virginia Beach is the epitome of hope and tenacity and, as a community, we will get through this and come out even stronger."
