Cape Town – It’s known as one of the happiest places on earth but, perhaps, not for former US president Barack Obama.

Obama appeared at a rally in Orange County, California on Saturday and shared stories about the two occasions he went to Disneyland and why he has never returned.

“I went to Disneyland twice when I was younger,” Obama recalled.

“The first time was when I was 11-year-old. Now, there is no better time to go to Disneyland than when you’re 11 years old.”

The 44th commander in chief added that it was his “first big trip to the mainland” while he was living in Hawaii and called his visit to the theme park, the “highlight” of the trip.

His second visit however, didn’t go so well.

Obama reveal the second time he went to Disneyland was to attend a Kool & the Gang concert with a group of friends when he was in college.

After the concert the group of buddies went on the gondolas – but not to enjoy the ride.

“I'm ashamed to say this - so close your ears young people - but a few of us were smoking on the gondolas.”

And just to be clear, they were smoking cigarettes and nothing else.

Obama adds that he and his friends were then spotted by Disneyland police and escorted off the grounds.

And while he hasn’t yet returned, the former POTUS was told he can visit any time – even Disney CEO Bob Iger reiterated on Twitter that he is welcome as long as he doesn’t smoke.
