Will and Jada Pinkett Smith enjoyed a lunch date at Nobu in Malibu on Saturday.

According to People, the occasion marks the first time the couple's been photographed out together since the King Richard actor slapped Chris Rock on stage in defence of his wife.

The two appeared happy, the publication reports, with Will even showing a peace sign at the cameras, while Jada held on to him.

The couple's outing comes months after the Oscars debacle, which resulted in the actor being banned from attending the Academy Awards.

He's since also apologised publicly to the comedian for his "unacceptable" behaviour – "I'm here whenever you're ready to talk," he said addressing Rock in a video shared on his social media.

He also apologised to his family – Jada included – and made it clear his actions weren't influenced by his wife.

"I made a choice on my own, from my own experiences, from my history with Chris," he said at the time. "Jada had nothing to do with it."
